Bruce Onobrakpeya is not just an artist, born to an Urhobo master carver, he went on to become one of the defining voices of Nigerian modernism, stitching together African history, philosophy and tradition.

As a co-founder of the Zaria Art Society, Onobrakpeya helped shape a postcolonial visual language rooted firmly in African culture and self-definition. High-relief prints, layered textures, stories that hum with West African memory.

His work is currently holding court at Tate Modern as part of the Nigerian Modernism exhibition in London, SALON has four original Onobrakpeya works available from a private collection.
